Work with the Press

The Press is read by designers, zinesters and independent publishers, and it reviews the tools they buy. There are exactly two honest ways to work with it, set out below — followed by the list of things that are not for sale.

Affiliate partnerships

The Press joins standard affiliate programmes — Impact, Awin, PartnerStack, CJ, Partnerize and direct — for vendors whose tools genuinely fit the Guides. Being in a programme buys nothing: inclusion, ratings and rankings are editorial, per the colophon. If your tool belongs in a guide it will be there whether you pay or not; if it does not, no programme will put it there. Vendors are welcome to point the Press at their programme.

Sponsorship

Clearly-labelled sponsorship is available: a "Supported by" credit around the guides. Every sponsored placement is labelled as such, and every tracked or paid-for link carries rel="sponsored". Sponsorship never buys a rating, a ranking, editorial copy, or an unlabelled link — it buys a credit, visibly marked, and nothing else.

What is not for sale

For the avoidance of any doubt, and so this page can be held against us later:

  • Placement in a guide.
  • A rating or a ranking.
  • Undisclosed or unmarked links.
  • Any space in the Journal or the Library, ever.

These are not house preferences; they are the standing public promise made in how the Press is funded. If a proposal requires bending any of them, the answer is already no.

Get in touch

Proposals to [email protected] — say what the tool is, who it is for, and where your programme lives.

Pitches for link exchanges, "guest posts" or undisclosed paid links get no reply.
